Asafo Retreat: 2-15-2009 Voice and Recommendation We, the elected Unity Council of the African Community Centers for Unity and Self-Determination/Atlanta, support the work of Baba Cordell and the Roots to Fruits Asafo Retreat. We view this work as positive for our community and our people for the following reasons: 1. This is a retreat for young African men ages 8 to 16 conducted every 2 weeks in a learning and nurturing environment utilizing adult and elder African community builders as influencing guides. 2. This activity gives those young men in attendance something to look forward to that is positive and tailored to their specific needs as African young men. 3. This activity gives adult and elder African men a unique opportunity to influence directly the growth and community stature of African young men in attendance.
